My grandfather passed away this morning. They had taken him off the respirator last night—his condition was just too bad for him to make anything we would consider a good recovery. I don't think he ever really came out of it following his cardiac arrest I spoke of a week ago. He would have continued to have seizures and more complications—he developed pneumonia a couple days ago, as he seemed to do every year as of late.

Considering the state he'd been in for the last week, it's better that he's gone. He lived a great life: eighty years, a successful business (thirty-plus years, running strong), seven children, nineteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. I won't go on about all the great things he was able to do in his life, but it goes without saying that his life is one I can look at and say, "wow". He got to travel all over, he was always close to his family, and he was just a great guy.

I'm gonna miss him.
